About Gary
I’ve been a computer and technology guy for over 17 years. I began my career doing technical support for Microsoft for the Windows 3.11 platform. I was there when they launched Windows 95 and Window NT. I was in the industry when the Internet was born and even helped build it. I’ve worked for Microsoft, MapLinks, MCI, AT&T, GTE Internetworking/Genuity, and AudioNet/Broadcast.Com (Mark Cuban’s company).
I’ve owned and operated my own consulting business, was a partner in a web development business, and was previously CEO of a million dollar computer retail business. In recent years, I’ve been a technology executive for a few private companies, manging millions of dollars in assets, multiple servers on multiple platforms, and leading teams of technical professionals.
In 2007 I decided to proceed with obtaining my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. So I enrolled in a program at Villanova University where I earned to Master’s Certifications: Applied Project Management and IT Project Management, and prepared for the PMP exam. In 2008, I passed the exam the first time out.
In 2009, I left my job as VP of Network Operations for a medical bill review company and decided to pursue my Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL v3) Foundation certification, which I completed in May. I also decided to go back to school and complete my Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from Western Governor’s University, and have plans to continue on to graduate school, pursuing two Master’s degrees: An MBA in Information Technolgy Management and an MS in Security.
I am currently a Service Desk Operations consultant for a software company in Ft Worth, TX.
My hobbies include paintball, treasure hunting/metal detecting, golf (though I haven’t been in a while), photography, writing, and, of course, computers and technology.
